Two Terrorists Killed In Encounter at Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag


A gunfight broke out on Wednesday between the security forces and holed up militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag town

Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday morning.Police said forces were acting on special information; security forces surrounded Kotwal Mohalla in Anantnag in the early hours of Wednesday morning.


Locals of the area said that heavy firing and blast like sounds are being heard since 4.00 am which created panic in the entire Lal Chowk area of the southern district.A senior police officer told India Today that the joint team of forces launched the cordon in the area following specific inputs about the presence of some militants.

He said that two to three militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba are believed to be trapped inside a residential house in the area.


Meanwhile, in wake of the gunfight, authorities snapped internet services in Anantnag district and its adjoining parts.Mobile internet services have been suspended in Anantnag district as a precautionary measure.
