Pakistan Executed a Man Convicted of Killing Seven-Year-Old Zainab Ansari

On the day of 4 January 2018, a seven-year-old girl Zainab Ansari went missing. While she was heading towards her Quran tuition classes. On 9 January her body was found in a garbage heap on Shahbaz Khan Road.

Huge protest took place in Kasur and in major cities of Pakistan. During the clash between people and police, Four policemen allegedly opened fire on protesters. In which two people were killed. Lately all four policemen got arrested and being interrogated.

To nab the accuse The joint Investigation Team was formed. The Pakistan’s supreme court had set a three day time limit.

Shahbaz Sharif current Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of Pakistan announced the arrest of a suspect. Imran Ali is a 24-year-old mechanic who lived in Zainab’s neighborhood. He had even taken part in protests against Zainab’s murder. Imran Ali has confessed to his crimes. Shahbaz Sharif confirmed that the DNA and polygraph test of the suspect that matched with the samples with least eight minor girls, including Zainab, raped and murdered. Imran Ali was a serial killer.

On 17 February 2018, an anti-terrorism court in Lahore Central Jail, found Imran Ali guilty of raping and murdering Zainab Ansari. The court handed him four counts of the death penalty.

Latest Update.

Pakistan executed Imran Ali in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail in 5;30 am (local time) on Wednesday. The rapist Imran Ali (24-year) was executed in the presence of magistrate Adil Sarwar and Zainab’s father Muhammad Amin. Geo TV reported, an ambulance arrived at the spot, along with Ali’s brother and two of his friends.

Before impending execution, the jail arranged a 45-minute meeting between the convict and his family on Tuesday.
