People troll oil companies for 1 paisa cut

The “cruel joke” clearly did not go down well with people on social media. Twitter users vented their frustration taking swipes at the government while some resorted to cheeky one-liners to thank the oil companies for the “largesse”

Consumers on Wednesday woke up to learn that the petrol prices have been cut by 60 paise while diesel price went down by 59 paise, after a 16-day upward trend that saw protests across the country.

But the cheer was short lived as the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) soon clarified that there was a technical error. “The reduction was supposed to be 1 paisa but due to a clerical error the price prevalent on May 25 was communicated as today’s price,” PTI quoted a senior official of the the state owned Oil and Gas company as saying.
